Rainy days

So it has been raining most days for over a week so the burns are replenished and the flowers and grass have had a much needed drink.

Still pretty quiet up here and ideal as the midges are not with us yet so come and check out the Highlands while you can before the summer rush.....

Is winter over?

We have escaped the worst of the weather so far this year. Not that cold, hardly any snow and it has been so dry we really need to rain to replenish the burns and rivers. (Yes we are in Scotland)

Places are starting to emerge from hibernation and preparing to open for tourists again. Not so good for visitors that like to come to Loch Ness and the Highlands out of the main season when nothing is open yet.
Looking forward to Easter soon and lots of chocolate.
Best wishes, from all at Three Bridges.

Quiet Cold December

It is a quiet December for us with bookings so we have decided to close and refurbish our kitchen so we can continue to cook delicious breakfasts for our guests in 2013.

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from all at Three Bridges B&B.

I will just go and brush off the plaster board dust and sweep up the mess again.....
It is best to keep moving though so you don't get too cold.

Winter is coming!

The first real snow and hard frost came yesterday so time to wrap up warm and make the most of the autumn colours before the winds blow all the leaves from the trees.

Lovely clear and bright days still make exploring Scotland great at this time of year. You just need a few more layers on, plenty of hot drinks and at least the roads are a bit quieter. Watch out for deer though and icy patches.
Must go and top up the bird feeders to keep them well fed during this colder weather.
All the best, Three Bridges B&B.

Road Open / Bridge Finished

Yipee! after nine weeks of works the bridge is now replaced and the road is open again.

There is still some tidying up to be done but we are easily accessible again from the A82 and there should not be much more noise or disruption. Just in time for the end of the summer.

Thank you to all our guests who have been very understanding during the works and we apologise for any inconvenience caused.

So now we hope to enjoy the unusually dry year for Fort Augustus and look forward to more summer sun!

The midges are here with a vengeance so we better keep moving.....

We are connected again!

Since the thunder and lightening storms at the end of June we have been without home phone or internet until BT have finally reconnected us this week.

We apologise that you have not been able to contact us but hopefully the problems have been sorted out now.

The summer has been dry so far but a little more sun would be even better.

All the best from Three Bridges.

Wierd Weather!

Who would be a weather forecaster with the unpredictable Scottish weather?

Frost, sun, hail, snow and rain all within an hour.
Don't let the weather put you off coming to Fort Augustus. It makes for a more dramatic effect especially with rainbows and Scotch mist.
Another reason to come to Scotland is to avoid the droughts of England. Certainly no shortage of water up here!
With spring lambs to see, trees just coming into blossom and plenty of fresh air so come and escape for a few days, we will be happy to advise of the best local things to see, from all at Three Bridges B&B, Fort Augustus, Loch Ness.

Notice of road closure and works to stone road bridge outside Three Bridges B&B, Fort Augustus

Road closure / bridge works outside Three Bridges

The lovely old stone bridge which provides access to Three Bridges B&B from the A82 is being replaced and the road is closed to enable this to happen. Alternative vehicular access is via a diversion from Fort Augustus village. From the south just after the large public car park turn left up a steep hill (Bunoich Brae) and continue straight on via the single track road to our bed and breakfast.

Pedestrian access into the forest opposite us for the Great Glen is still available.

The project is already delayed and the earliest finishing date proposed is 17th August. This could perceivably be delayed further by other unforeseen circumstances.

Work will commence at 8am each morning and throughout the day until 6pm from Monday to Friday.

We are open for bed and breakfast throughout this period but want everyone to be aware of the situation and we understand that it may not be suitable for all of our guests.

For any further information please get in touch.

Please if you decide not to book with us as a result of the works or you wish to cancel a booking already made, then we would also be very grateful to know this for our records.

Many thanks for your understanding, Three Bridges B&B, Fort Augustus.
